The amount of content there is to compete with keeps on growing at an estimated rate of 2 million blog posts a day. As a result it can be hard for businesses to set themselves apart from the competition.

Here are 5 Ways You Can Start Increasing Your Blog's Performance:

1. Define Your Purpose

Before you start writing it's important to determine what topic you're writing about, why you're writing about that topic, and what your audience will gain from reading your blog post.

Publishing meaningless content is a waste of time for both you and the reader. They will simply bounce from your site after being unsatisfied with your content and you won't see the engagement and results you're looking for.

An easy solution is to identify a common problem that your target audience has. Pick something that you find is commonly being asked or searched and that you can provide help and/or insight for.

One good way to do this is to ask your sales team what common pain points they're hearing leads and clients struggle with. If multiple people are having the same issues then it's pretty likely others are as well.

Maybe they're having a hard time gaining a following on social media or perhaps they're not seeing enough monthly traffic to their website.

Whatever the problem may be, your blog is a great place to address these issues by providing helpful tips, advice, and potential solutions to your audience's problems.

Being a reliable source of information and posting quality content for your readers will increase the chances of your blog developing a following and people engaging and sharing your articles.

2. Formatting and Spacing

The formatting and spacing of your content is more important than some would think. They both work together to make your posts easy and enjoyable to read.

Put yourself in your reader's shoes. If you saw a bunch of bundled up text that just ran together on a page how likely would you be to read through it all? Not very likely at all, right?

Break up your text by using shorter paragraphs and avoid using too many long, run-on sentences. This will make your content much easier for people to read and take in.

Format your posts with headings and subheadings to group your ideas and make certain information stand out. This will help keep your message clear and concise.

Images can make your post much more appealing as well as help your content resonate better with your readers.

Images can also be a great a way to break up sections of text, emphasize certain points, or add personality to your post. All of which have a positive impact on your audience's experience.

4. Optimize for SEO

Optimizing for SEO is something you should do with each blog post. This will increase your chances of that post ranking and as a result you will likely see more traffic to your blog posts.
